Dunnocks on the Run

If in a hundred years in the deep of winter there are still robins & dunnocks still in England, I'm sure there will be somebody looking into their gardens and feeling sorry for the poor harried dunnock, bravely scurrying about on the hard ground and the frozen twig from that most autocratic garden bird - the robin.

  1. Terrific photo, Michael, but is that a dunnock? It's got the robin's red breast but doesn't look like a robin to me.

  2. Yes it's a British robin. Quite different from the American robin. Dunnocks are the epitome of 'The Little Brown Job'.

  3. Oh robins are terrors, i wouldn't want to be another bird getting in the way of a robin. They're beautiful birds nonetheless and lovely for gardeners.Very Christmassy birds too!

    Happy Christmas!
